Topeka Man Involved In Hit And Run, Undergoing Surgery For Injuries

A hit and run accident involving a pedestrian in downtown Topeka, KS., has put one man in the hospital.  The accident happened near S.W. 11th and Kansas Avenue in downtown Topeka.  The accident was seen by several witnesses who described the accident by saying the suspected vehicle was first heading east on 10th street, before it turned right and drove south onto the sidewalk then crossed the driveway between the buildings and continued south on the sidewalk.  The vehicle then drove over the pedestrian, backed up and hit the pedestrian again before driving away.

 

Thanks to witnesses, Topeka police were able to track down an 18 year-old man believed to be the driver of the hit and run vehicle.  It is believed that alcohol was involved in the injury accident, although formal charges had yet to be filed.
