Truck Driver Chokes while Eating and Driving; Life is Saved when Truck Crashes

As a motorist on Kansas and Missouri highways, trying to share the road with a big rig truck can be a stressful situation.  It can be even more dangerous when you know that that truck driver might not be paying full attention to the road.  As dangerous as trucking accidents can be, we came across this story about an accident that may have actually saved a truck driver's life.

In Pennsylvania a truck driver was trying to make up some time by having a snack while driving, in this case an apple.  Disaster struck when the truck driver began to choke on the apple.  He lost control of the big rig and crashed into a concrete barrier.  The trucking accident is credited as helping to dislodge the apple and may have saved the truck driver's life in the process.  He suffered no other injuries following the semi-truck crash.

The experienced Kansas City Trucking Accident and Injury Attorneys of Roswold Law Group know that a large majority of the trucking community is doing a great job of ensuring each driver is properly trained to drive and handle the pressures of operating such a large and potentially dangerous vehicle like the big rig truck.  But we also know that there is a long way to go before the roads are safe from dangerous and serious injury accidents involving big rig trucks and hope that all truck drivers are committed to continually improving and sharpening their driving techniques.

One way to keep the roads safe is by doing your part as a truck driver to practice safe and attentive driving techniques and this includes what many drivers and police officers consider to be the number one danger: distracted and inattentive driving.  This can be anything from texting and cell phone calls to yes, even eating.

While a good majority of truck drivers are split on the issue of driving and eating and whether or not it is dangerous, ask most police officers or highway patrol officers who deal with trucking accidents and they will most definately tell you that eating is considred a factor in distracted or inattentive driving.

If you or someone you love has suffered a serious injury in an accident with a big rig truck, you may be entitled to compensation for your losses, including lost wages, medical bills and even legal fees. But don't try to take on the insurance companies alone. Call the experienced Kansas City Personal Injury Lawyers of Roswold Law Group.
