Two Major Crash Sites in Kansas City Part of Task Force to Reduce Accidents

Remember our reporting of the Top 20 Crash Sites in Kansas City?  Well it looks like city leaders are working in the Shoal Creek area to see what can be done to improve safety at the sites listed as numbers one and three for 2010.  The intersections of 152 Highway and Flintlock and 152 Highway and Church Street are being evaluated by a task force to determine a proposal for imporvements to these intersections.

Interestingly, these two intersections are just one block from one another, have red light cameras and also warning signs, but auto accidents continue to occur there.  Approximately 30,000 cars travel 152 Highway each day and authorities report that they have investigated over 300 accidents a year along that stretch of highway.

In 2010 police reported 73 accidents at 152 Highway and Flintlock and 61 crashes at 152 Highway and Church Street, approximately 45% of the total accidents per year.
