Bus Safety A Concern For Kansas City Parents In Aftermath of St. Louis Bus-Truck Crash

Two people were killed in a tragic crash that involved two school buses, a tractor-trailer and a pick up truck.  The accident occurred west of St. Louis along I-44 near a construction zone.  The buses were transporting high school band students from St. James to Six Flags Amusement Park where they were to perform following attendance at a band camp. 

The accident happened when the driver of the pickup truck rear-ended the tractor trailer cab.  The two buses, unable to stop quickly, then joined in the pileup.  A 15-year-old girl from the first bus and the 19-year-old driver of the pickup were both killed.  Approximately 42 other injuries were reported and dozens of students were taken to area hospitals for treatment of mostly minor injuries.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident.  One of the main reasons for the NTSB to be involved is there are two areas of concern in this accident:  construction zone safety and school bus safety.  As Kansas City Auto Accident and Injury Attorneys, we applaud the efforts of the NTSB and encourage a thorough investigation of this accident with the hope that concrete improvements can be found that will make school buses and construction zones safer for motorists.
