Wild HIgh Speed Car Chase Ends in Two Arrests

A wild high speed car chase ended in two arrests Monday evening during rush hour.  Police were attempting to stop a red Jeep on a routine traffic violation when the Jeep fled from the officers.  The driver, wanted on felony warrants in both Kansas and Missouri, led police on a chase during rush hour traffic on interstate highways and residential neighborhoods. 

The chase began around 5:15 Monday, but police quickly determined the pursuit was too dangerous because of traffic congestion and decided to follow the vehicle by way of police helicopter.  Police attempted to stop the Jeep using stop sticks, but the driver was able to avoid these blocks.  In his attempt to avoid police, the driver plowed through fenced yards in residential neighborhoods and even drove the wrong way on an area interstate highway, narrowly avoiding the oncoming traffic. 

The driver eventually crossed the state line and stopped his vehicle in Kansas City, KS, where the passenger was immediately arrested.  The driver, fled to a burned out building nearby where he was also arrested.

At Roswold Law Group, we applaud the actions of police in dealing with these dangerous conditions.  Often a police chase ends in disaster, with innocent victims being hurt or killed during such pursuits.  In this case, however, police quickly determined a car chase was not appropriate and took other measures to carefully end this situation.
