Overland Park, Monday afternoon, was the scene of an unusual incident for a local road worker. The worker, who was directing traffic in a construction zone near College Boulevard and Switzer Road, was bumped twice by an angry motorist. The road worker had allowed a truck to pass through, when she stopped the following car in line. The driver of the car, in an attempt to get through the construction, bumped the road worker. The driver then backed up and bumper her a second time. When the driver backed up again for a third bump, the worker moved and allowed the driver to go through the construction area.
Other workers were able to capture the license plate, but according to police the car is owned by a rental service. Police are working to track down the driver, who could face felony charges of aggravated battery.
Construction sites are inherently dangerous for the people who work them. Motorists are faced with lane changes, narrow roadways, uneven surfaces and many other problems that make navigating safely through these construction zones difficult at best. In this instance, however, it appears that a difficult construction site was made worse by an angry motorist. As
Kansas City Auto Accident Attorneys, the lawyers at Roswold Law Group know that serious injury can occur in just a few seconds at a road construction site. We hope police are able to apprehend the driver and take appropriate action as the investigation continues.
In April of this year we posted an article from the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) regarding safety in construction sites, "
