New Horizons of the Treasure Coast is being sued by the patient's daughter for negligence after a patient
Sharon Bronowicz, was found dead from drowning after being left alone in a locked bathroom for nearly an hour in a residential treatment facility. Bronowicz was involuntarity placed in the New Horizons facility after evaluation by psychiatric professionals at Port St. Lucie Hospital Behavioral Health Center. Bronowicz had voluntarity checked herself into the Port St. Lucie Hospital.
A situation like this that causes the death of a patient is incredibly upsetting to family and friends. Unlike an accident, however, it appears the very place Bronowicz was placed for treatment of bipolar disorder and suicidal thoughts may have contributed to her death.
