Your Child has Rights after a Dog Bite Attack in Kansas or Missouri

At Kansas City Accident Injury Attorneys, we have seen enough dog bite attacks to know that it is never the same thing to set them off from case to case.  But that doesn't make them any easier to deal with-- especially when the dog isn't even yours.  Last week in Olathe, Kansas, an 8 year-old boy was hospitalized last week after suffering serious injuries in dog biting accident. The child suffered serious injuries to his arms and legs during the attack. The dog has been described as a boxer/shar pei mix. The boy was taken to Children's Mercy Hospital. His injuries are not considered to be life threatening.

The dog was taken to the Olathe Animal Shelter pending an investigation. According to the Olathe Police Department, this is the second known biting accident involving the same dog.

As experienced Kansas City Child Injury Lawyers, we know that emergency room statistics show that most dog bite victims are children. This makes it extremely important for all parents to educate their children on how to handle a dog attack.

First and foremost, children need to know that unfamiliar dogs are potentially dangerous dogs. Even dogs that they have played with in the past such as a neighbors dog or a friend's family dog can become aggressive when they are disturbed at eating times, sleeping times, and times when they are nursing their young.

If you have a child who has suffered a serious injury in a dog bite accident in Kansas or Missouri, you may be entitled to compensation for your losses.
