How do I know if I am a victim of medical malpractice?

A: Medical malpractice is negligent treatment by any medical provider, such as a doctor, hospital, nurse, chiropractor, therapist, or other medical practitioner that causes harm. If a medical practitioner does not act in accordance with the accepted standards of practice in the diagnosis or treatment of a condition, they may be responsible for the harm that results and pay damages for those injuries, including pain and suffering, medical bills, loss of wages, psychological trauma or perhaps death.

In some cases medical malpractice is obvious.  Such cases include birth injury, prescription error, surgical mistakes, misdiagnosis, and abuse. In other cases, you may not learn until later that you are the victim of malpractice. Anytime a person learns that a doctor, hospital, nurse, chiropractor, or other medical provider did not follow accepted medical procedure, they should be concerned.
