Pain medication and other forms of medicine are commonly prescribed, and physical therapy may also be recommended to the patient by his or her physician in an effort to strengthen muscles that were weakened due to the injury. If these treatments are not sufficient to resolve the cervical strain or whiplash, further treatments may include trigger point injections, cervical traction, and possibly even surgical options, once again depending on the particular case.
