A government panel in 2006 recommended that young girls receive the human papillomavirus vaccine as early as the age of 11. The advisory committee made the recommendation for the vaccine and after acceptance by the Bush administration, the commercial vaccine Gardasil then became part of the routine vaccines recommended for young children.
