Toyota Expands Its Safety Recall Again

Toyota announced late Wednesday, January 27, 2010, that it was amending its Defect Information Report sent on October 5, 2009 to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration regarding the potential risk for floor mat entrapment of accelerator pedals in certain Toyota and Lexus models.
The amendment expands its safety recall to include an additional 1,093,000 vehicles and includes the following vehicles:

• 2009-2010 Corolla
• 2008-2010 Highlander
• 2009-2010 Matrix
• 2009-2010 Venza
• 2009-2010 Pontiac Vibe (manufactured by Toyota)

This recall is an expansion of the previous recall of 3.8 million vehicles in October of 2009 for purposes of modifying gas pedals, floor mats and engine software. This is in addition to the sticking accelerator recall recently announced.
