10-Year Old Crashes Car into Train in Chillicothe

An accident occurred Tuesday near Chillicothe, Missouri when a car and a freight train collided.  According to the Livingston County Sheriff a 10-year old child was driving the car with one adult passenger and four other children.  Erin Graves of Chula, Missouri was charged with five misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child. 

No one was hurt in the accident which occurred when the child attempted to speed up to avoid being hit by the train at a crossing.  The car did not make it all the way across the tracks when it was struck by the train.  According to the sheriff's department the car was struck in the rear by the train and spun counter-clockwise on the road. 

Initially Graves claimed he was operating the car, but later admitted the 10-year old was driving.  Graves was the only person in the vehicle that was old enough to have a drivers license.  Graves is the father of the 10-year old driver.
