14 Year Girl Alahna Has Triumphed Over Cerebral Palsy

Dedicated and determined, 14 year old Alahna Keil out of La Crosse, Wisconsin Central High School has succeeded in reaching her goal to earn her black belt in karate. Alahna is living with Cerebral Palsy, a condition in which a number of neurological disorders permanently impair movement and muscle coordination. Cerebral palsy results from brain abnormalities responsible for controlling movement of the muscles. Close to one hundred people were fortunate enough to witness Alahna excel in a one hour test in which she hit targets and sparred. 

Her instructors applaud her accomplishment and look forward to teaching her additional karate, so she can excel further. She has participated in karate for four years and has learned discipline, including THE STRENGTH AND DETERMINATION TO CONTINUE TO FIGHT FOR YOUR GOALS NO MATTER WHAT CHALLENGES GET IN HER WAY. 

Her story is inspiring. She ambulated with a walker for many years; however, in the 6th grade she decided to put it away and with perseverance began walking on her own. Alahna's training in karate helped develop her ability maintain balance, which she feels is the biggest reward karate has given her. Even though she experiences aches and pains, she does not complain or whine. 

When she grows up, Alahna desires to be a physician! We know she can do it.
