A 16 year-old student at Lafayette High School was killed on Monday November 15, 2010 when he was struck by a school bus in St. Joseph, Missouri. According to reports, the accident happened early Monday morning, just after 7:30 a.m. when the student was crossing St. Joseph Avenue on Grand. The bus, driving down the same street, attempted to turn onto Grand and hit the boy. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to police, the bus driver never saw the child and passes a breathalyzer to determine whether or not he had been drinking and driving.
Several classmates saw the accident. The school has set up support groups to help the kids deal with the tragic loss of a popular classmate.
