2 year-old Girls Left Alone for Hours in KC; Mom accused of neglect

A mother of twin daughters is accused of leaving the children unattended after the two year-old girls were discovered by the cleaning staff of an Extended Stay Hotel in Lenexa, Kansas.  The girls were hungry, dirty and were both in need of a diaper change according to hotel personnel.  The incident is not the first time this woman has has been accused of leaving her daughters unattended.  After a previous incident, the mother claimed she had a miscommunication with a baby sitter.

This time, the hotel staff called the police.  The children have been taken into protective custody pending an investigation by the Johnson County D.A.

"Not the smartest or the safest thing to do. These children aren't of the age they can do anything for themselves," said Officer Dan Friesen with the Lenexa Police Department.
