4 year-old Child Injured in Ride Accident at Louisiana State Fair

A four year-old boy was hospitalized in serious condition after being injured in an accident at the Louisiana State fair in early November. The accident happened in the Kiddie Land area of the fair on a ride platform for the Demolition Derby kids ride. Reports indicate the child became trapped after the ride was re-activated as the ride attendant was helping other children off the ride.

Witnesses say the ride was activated, causing the floor to begin to drop allowing the child to slip into a gap and become trapped. Fire fighters and emergency crews worked to free the child who was in and out of consciousness. The child was freed and rushed to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

A full scale investigation will be launched to determine how the ride was re-activated and where fault lies.
