53 year-old Kansas City man killed in pedestrian accident on I-29

A 53 year-old Kansas City man was killed after being struck by a car.  The accident happened on Monday December 6th, 2010 as the victim was attempting to cross I-29 highway near Barry Road in Kansas City, Missouri.  The victim, who has been identified as Richard Nelson, was struck by an unidentified driver in a 1996 Chevrolet.  He was taken to a hospital where he died.

Kansas City police have launched an investigation into the pedestrian accident and are trying to figure out why the man was trying to cross the highway.  No criminal charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the Chevy.
