AAP Suggests Parents Keep Children in Rear-Facing Car Seats Until the Age of 2

According to a new policy in the April 2011 Pediatrics Journal, the American Acedemy of Pediatrics is suggesting parents keep children in a rear facing car seat until the age of two or until they reach the weight limit.  Studies have shown that children are 75% more likely to survive if they are sitting proplerly rear-facing in their seats if you are involved in a serious injury accident.

Rear facing car seats are designed to protect a child's head, neck and spine in the event of a crash and have been proven to be more dependable if they are facing back instead of front.
