Auto-Train Accident in Bucyrus, Kansas Hospitalizes 45 yr-old Motorist

A man suffered severe life threatening injuries when his car was hit by a train at a rail road crossing in Bucyrus, Kansas on June 12, 2011. The auto-train accident happened in Miami County around 3:30 a.m. at a rail crossing at 223rd Street and 4th Street.

Police investigating the accident said it appears the man was trying to get out of his car when he realized he didn't have enough time to get the car across the tracks. The 45 year-old victim was trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by emergency crews.
