Baby Bracelet Recalls by Manufacturer Allreds Design

Posted on Mar 31, 2010

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is working cooperatively with a company known as Allreds Design to recall over 900 baby bracelet and pacifier sets.  The recall occurred after the company received a call from one family whose 10-month old infant needed medical treatment after doctors determined that she had been exposed to elevated levels of lead.

The bracelets were sold in a variety of colors, styles, and sizes.  The sizes ranging for kids between 0 months to 8 years of age.  The beading on the bracelets consisted of both crystal-like and plastic beads, usually with a metal clasp.  These products were manufactured in the United States, and sold between the months of June 2008-December 2008 at general retail shops.  The suggested retail price was placed at about $5.

The CPSC and Allreds Design urge consumers to remove the bracelets and pacifiers from the reach of children.  The products can be returned and will be replaced by Allreds Design Company.

Lead poisoning can be dangerously toxic to young children.  When poisoning first occurs, it is almost impossible to detect.  Not until poisoning becomes severe do symptoms surface.  According to medical research group, The Mayo Clinic, the following symptoms may be experienced by young children and are important warning signs:

-Irritability

-Decrease in Appetite

-Losing Weight

-Exceptional Amounts of Fatigue

-Pain in the Abdominal Region

-Vomitting and Constipation

-Difficulties Learning

-Anemia (noticeable when child appears irregularly pale)

Infants exposed to toxic amounts of lead poisoning while in the womb may also exhibit stunted growth rates and learning problems that may stay with them as they grow.

If you believe that you or a loved one have been dangerously exposed to lead, you may be entitled to compensation.  At Kansas City Accident Injury Attorneys, we understand the tremendous difficulties presented by this situation.  We are committed to fighting for the rights of children, and we want to see victims get the justice and compensation they deserve.  Contact our Kansas City based firm for more information.
