Child Hit by Car on 4th of July Suffers Serious Injuries

A 9 year-old Kansas City, Kansas boy was hospitalized on Monday July 4th, 2011 after he was involved in a hit and run accident in front of his KCK home. The child pedestrian injury accident happened at 47th Street and Wood Avenue while the boy along with some family and friends were setting off fireworks around 11:15 p.m.

The boy and an adult friend of the family were struck by a Ford Mustang, which allegedly sped up when they tried to get out of the way of the oncoming vehicle. The boy has been hospitalized with serous injuries that have been described as non-life threatening.
