Child strangled by toy in at-home day care under investigation

In Denver, Colorado a one year old boy suffered a strangulation accident at an at home day care facility and died.  According to news reports, the accident happened on December 22, 2010 when the boy was sitting in a high chair seat.  The teacher on duty had left the room for a moment and when she returned, the boy was slumped over and not breating.  Paramedics were called to the scene and the boy was unresponsive.  He was rushed to the hospital but doctors were unable to save him and the infant was pronounced dead.

The cause of death has been ruled an accident and is believed to be strangulation caused by a wooden and wire toy the boy was playing with.  So far, no charges have been filed but investigators are looking into ligature  marks that were found on the boy's neck and chest, which suggest he was left unattended for longer than a minute.
