Commemorate Brain Injury Awareness Month with BIAK on March 24th

The Brain Injury Association of Kansas City and Greater Kansas City will celebrate brain injury Awareness Month on March 24, 2010 at the Doubletree Hotel, located at 10100 College Boulevard, Overland Park, Kansas. The very timely subject of SPORTS CONCUSSIONS will be discussed by a panel of experts consisting of both athletes and physicians, and the event will include an appearance by local celebrity broadcaster, Mitch Holthus, the "Voice of the Kansas City Chiefs," as emcee for the event. Panelists for the event will include: 

Brian McRae, Kansas City Royals center fielder (1990-1994) and sports ESPN Baseball Tonight sports analyst (2000-2005). McRae has suffered five or more concussions during his career in baseball.

Jamie Pardini, M.D., neuropsychologist at the U of Pittsburgh Medical Center, who is a colleague of Mark Lovell, M.D., the creator of ImPACT, Immediate Post-concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing.

David Dyck, M.D., a sports medicine physician in Kansas City who provides medical coverage for USA Volleyball and is a nationally known sports medicine lecturer. 

The talk show format discussion, with on-stage panelists responding to inquiries directly from the audience, will cost $10 at the door. A reception will precede the event (6-6:30 pm) and is included with the cost of admission. The expert panel discussion will take place immediately thereafter (6:30-8 pm).
