Authorities made a horrifying discovery Tuesday when they were called to a home because a suspicious odor. Police arrived at the fourplex home in the 100 block of Northeast Dogwood Street around 6:30 p.m.
Oak Grove police discovered a lethal amount of carbon monoxide in the home of the neighbor that had called in the report. When they expanded their search to other units in the fourplex they discovered the body of a teenager, the granddaughter of the woman that owns the home. The grandmother, described as a woman in her 60s, and another teen, a friend of the granddaughter, have both been hospitalized.
Police discovered a car running in the garage with the garage door closed. The car belongs to the woman. Authorities are trying to determine whether or not the car was accidentally left on. Investigators have not yet spoken to the two survivors.
