A 21-year old truck driver, Caleb Page, was pinned for over three hours in his semi Monday evening following an accident at the interchange of I-35 and I-435. The driver, who was hauling a load of cable reels, was leaving I-35 North to head west on I-435, when he took the onramp to quickly and tipped his truck losing the load. Rescue crews had several problems to address at this accident which occurred at the height of rush hour at one of the city's busiest interchanges.
Besides the cargo that had spilled onto the highway onramp, crews were also concerned about fuel spilling and worked quickly to get the tractor trailer upright. Rescuers had their hands full working to free Page from his truck, but managed to get him out of the rig after about three hours. Page, and his passenger, Brett Metcalfe, were both taken to an area hospital for treatment, but no word has been released on either man's condition.
Drivers were forced to use 95th Street as an alternate route. The ramp was closed until approximately 8:30 p.m.
