Drunk Driving Victim Sign in Indpendence a warning to drunk drivers

The city of Independence, Missouri has erected a new sign along eastbound Highway 24 in order to raise awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving.  The sign reads "Drunk Driving Victim! LBR 10/09 Think About IT!"  It's a memorial and reminder of a tragic drunk driving accident that happened on the same stretch of highway that claimed the life of a 16 year-old girl.

"Drinking and then choosing to drive is a decision that tragically takes lives," said MoDOT District Engineer Beth Wright, in a press release about the newly erected sign. "This new sign recalls the loss of a vibrant Fort Osage High School junior, while raising awareness of the dangers of impaired driving."
