Dump Truck Collides with School Bus in Greenwood, MO.-- Six Children Injured

A school bus was hit from behind by a dump truck on Missouri Highway 150 at 17th Avenue South last week in Greenwood, Missouri. The school bus accident happened on Wednesday May 4, 2011 as the sixth grade class of Greenwood Elementary was on a field trip.  Six children suffered serious injuries in the collision and were taken to Children's Mercy Hospital. The driver of the bus was also seriously injured and taken to another hospital.

According to a Greenwood School District spokeswoman, there were a total of 37 sixth-graders on the bus in addition to nine parents, two teachers and a cadet teacher who were accompanying the students on the field trip. The students were scheduled for a field trip at the Jazz Museum in Kansas City, Mo.
