Early morning auto accidents in Kansas City caused by slippery roads

Slippery road conditions are to blame for several early morning accidents around Kansas City, Missouri.  Police say at many roads in the metro area were affected by a drop in temperature and a light snow fall following a weekend in which warmer temperatures melted much of the snow in Kansas City.

Among the accidents in the metro was a four vehicle crash on I-70 near the Sterling Road exit.  There were several minor injuries in the crash but none that warranted further treatment or hospitalization.  Another accident on Interstate 70, this one under the Mill St. bridge resulted in one serious injury.  The victim was hospitalized but the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The roads were so slick on some roads that even emergency vehicles had problems.  A fire truck leaving the scene of one of the accidents took a while to get going again on the slick roads.
