Elderly Driver Rear-Ends Trash Truck in Topeka--Three Seriously Injured

In Topeka, Kansas last week, three people were seriously injured in a rear-end collision between a car and a Shawnee County Refuse truck. The trucking accident happened on Wednesday morning, May 18, 2011.  According to Topeka Police, two men were riding on the back of the truck, when the vehicle was rear-ended by a car being driving by a 70 year-old man identified as Arnold Rueker, of Silver Lake, Kansas.  The garbage truck was working in the neighborhood, picking up trash. It had made a stop and was slowing down for another stop when the auto injury collision occurred.

Several witnesses report that the car was also sideswipe collision with an eastbound van. Another vehicle was forced off the road to avoid being involved in the accident.
