Elderly Woman Dies of Broken Neck Climbing Out Window of Springfield, MO. Nursing Home

An 81 year-old woman, who was a patient at the Springfield Skilled Care Center was found dead at the Nursing Home according to officials from the Springfield Police Department.  Missouri State Health officials are investigating the nursing home accident in which the woman had apparently died of a broken neck while attempting to crawl out of a window.

The Nursing Home Accident happened on Monday May 9, 2011.  The woman has been identified as Mary Bebee.  While an investigation is underway, a preliminary autopsy has confirmed the elderly woman died of a fractured neck.

According to Brian Mattox, who is the administrator for the center, Bebee has been a patient at the hospital for two years and is a victim of Alzheimer's Disease.  The victim's body was found about 6:15 a.m. Monday in the back yard.  Part of a window screen and the edging around the screen had been pushed out.
