Fair worker loses leg in roller coaster accident in Petaluma, CA

A man working at the Sonoma-Marin County fair in Petaluma, California lost his leg after being hit by a children's roller coaster while attempting to cross the track.  The accident happend on June 23, 2010 less than thirty minutes after the fair had opened to the public.  The worker was hit from behind and became trapped under one of the cars as it rocked back and forth on the worker.  His leg was severed at the knee.  Witnesses riding the coaster said they saw the man on the track, his back to the coaster and holding a drink as the tried to get across.  The man taken to the hospital and underwent surgery.  He is expected to survive the accident.
