Fatal Scissor Lift Accident Puts Focus on Equipment Safety for Kansas City Workers

Two workers were involved in a fatal accident at a steel plant in Indiana on Tuesday March 8, 2011.  The accident happened at the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. in New Castle, Indiana.  According to reports, the workers were performing maintenance on a scissor lift 40 ft. in the air, when the lift suddenly collapsed.  One worker became trapped under the machinery and was hospitalized with critical injuries. 

The other worker was killed in the accident.

It is unknown what caued the scissor lift to collapse.  OSHA is investigating the work place accident.
