Father Rescues 6 month-old Son from Submerged Truck after Rollover Crash in Missouri

A 24 year-old man and his 6 month-old son are alive today, one day after being involved in a dangerous rollover accident on Route VV in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.  The accident happened on Monday March 14, 2011 as the father was trying to navigate the slippery and winding road.  He lost control of the vehicle and went off the road, down an embankment, before it flipped over before splashing into an icy pond.

The man freed himself and got himself to safety before going back under for his baby.  The six month-old boy was submerged underwater, upside down and strapped into his car seat when his father got to him.  He managed to undo the buckle and get the boy above water.  Rescuse crews treated both father and son for hypothermia and were hositalized.

The baby stayed the night at Children's Mercy Hospital for further observation but both father and son are expected to fully recover.
