Fire Hazard Prompts General Electric Recall On Air Conditioning Units

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and GE Appliances and Lighting have issued a dangerous product recall for over 90,600 GE Zoneline Air Conditioners and Heaters. The product recall was issued by the CPSC on June 14, 2011 after it was dicovered that an electrical component in the heating system can fail, creating a potentially dangerous fire hazard.
The following models and serials are included in this recall:
- Brand: GE
- Model Number (Begins with): AZ41, AZ61
- Serial Number (Begins with): AT, DT, FT, GT, HT, LT, MT, RT, ST, TT, VT and ZT; AV, DV and FV.
Consumers are advised to contact General Electric to schedule a free repair.
