Florida Circumcision Case Should Get Attention of KC Parents

The parents of a newborn baby in Miami, Florida are suing South Miami Hospital for circumcising their newborn child without their permission.  The hospital is being sued for negligence and battery instead of medical malpractice.

“For nearly 20 years that I have practiced law, I have not seen a case like this. This is not medical practice. It’s a battery…" said the attorney for the family.

The family made it very clear to the hospital staff they did not want their baby circumcised but the operation happened anway, eight days after the child was born.  The hospital claims they did not intentionally ignore the family's request and that the accident was the result of the misreading of a consent form.
