Former Kansas City Chief's running back, Ed Podolak, was hit by a car while crossing a street in Scottsdale, Arizona over the weekend. In a statement released by his daughter, Podolak is in stable condition at a Scottsdale hospital. He is undergoing "minor surgeries" and is in good spirits.
According to police, Podolak was not in a marked crosswalk when the accident occurred on Sunday. They also reported that the driver that hit Podolak attempted to stop his vehicle, but was unable to stop fast enough.
Podolak spent all nine of his NFL seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs from 1969 to 1977 and is credited with 4,451 yards and 34 touchdowns on 1,157 carries. He remains the Chief's fourth all-time leading rusher. Podolak is now a broadcaster for Iowa football games.
