High Speed Car Chase Ends With Police Empty-Handed

A Land Rover stolen from a 7-Eleven at U.S. Highway 24 and Noland Road led Independence police on a chase around 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning.  The stolen SUV was reported, but police did not find the vehicle until an hour after the initial dispatch.  At that point police pursued the Land Rover and the high speed chase began.  The vehicle, reached speeds of over 100 mph during the chase that led authorities through Independence and Kansas City.

Police were unable to determine how many people were in the SUV as the windows were darkly tinted.  The chase ended at 11th Street and Tracy Avenue  when the SUV crashed through a fence and hit a retaining wall outside a local business.  When police arrived on the scene the driver and any passengers that may have been in the vehicle had escaped.
