How Safe are the Big Rig Trucks Passing Through Kansas City?

In Oakland, CA. on September 10th, a dump truck collided with a car, instigating a 13 vehicle pile up and injuring at least five people.  The accident happened on the Grand Avenue off-ramp to Interstate 580 arond 4:30 in the afternoon on that day.  According to police, the truck was exiting the ramp when it slammed into a car that was stopped at a stop light.  Five people were hospitalized with serious injury, though none are expected to be life threatening.

The driver of the truck claims the brakes went out on the vehilce, causing him to crash.  The accident is under investigation by both the police and the trucking company.

Officer Holly Joshi with the Oakland Police Department said, “The truck appeared to have been coming off of the freeway exit when it plowed into the first vehicle causing a chain reaction.”
