Johnson County day care closed; owner used riding crop to discipline

The Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services shut down a Johnson County home day care center this week after an investigation by the KDHE confirmed allegations that the owner, Shirley Joyce McClellan, used a riding  crop to discipline children.  During the KDHE investigation, McClellan also admitted to using her hand to hit children that got out of line as well as threatening them with a stick.

The Shirtly Joyce McClellan Day Care Home will be shut down pending results of a hearing with KDHE Secretary Roderick Bremby.
