Does your child use a baby hammock? If so, we encourage you to find out the manufacturer and the model number right away because the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has officially recalled one potentially dangerous line of baby hammocks.
The company that has agreed to this recall is known as MamaLittleHelper. For over two years now, since May of 2008, they have been marketing their baby hammocks to the general public. These hammocks were sold online for as much as $230, but some as low as $100.
The variation in price is due to the different models sold. But to be clear, not all of the models are being recalled. The recalled models can be determined by their model identification numbers, which are the BL222, the 1010, and the 1020.
The physical features of that these hammocks share include a frame made of steel, a cloth hammock area that contains a small, soft pad. The hammock is connected to the frame via a spring, a supportive rope, and a hanger.
The BL222 is distinguishable from the other rockers because it has a small computer that helps it operate. In addition, the BL222 hammocks should have a label sewn into the side of the hammock with the company's name on it. However, the 1010 and the 1020 will have no such label.
There have been three reported incidents in which the hammock was rocking back and forth and side to side when a small child slipped down into the hammock. Because these children were too small to help themselves, they began crying for help. The CPSC sees the hammocks as a potential suffocation threat to young users. The good news is that the CPSC has not received any injury reports.
If you have more questions or would like to report an instance of injury, we urge you to first contact the CPSC and then the MamaLittleHelper Company. The company can be reached at 866-612-9986 between the hours of 1-5 on weekday afternoons, they can be emailed at recall@mamalittlehelper, or you can even visit their recall page www.mamalittlehelper.com/recall.htm.
If you believe that a child you love has suffered because of a defective product and they are entitled to justice and compensation, we urge you to first receive appropriate medical attention, inform the CPSC, and then contact anyone of our Kansas City Child Injury and Accident Lawyers for a free initial consultation.
