Kansas City Police Launch Click It. Or Ticket. Program

"Click ir or Ticket" is more than just a saying now for the Kansas City, Kansas Police after meating Chad Kitzman, a surviving victim of a near-fatal accident.  The Kansas City Police Department has launched the "Click it. Or Ticket" statewide crackdown.  As part of the program, officials from the KCPD met with a survivor of a near fatal auto accident. September 2005, Kitzman was not wearing a seat belt when he was involved in a single-vehicle automobile injury accicent. At the time of the crash, even doctors did not expect him to survive. Kitzman was in a coma for over two months caused by a severe and traumatic brain injury.

"If even one person can be saved by learning from my mistake, then it is well worth my time to tell them of it" said Kitzman.

Officials said motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of traumatic injury among young people and that seat belts have proven to reduce the risk of death by 40% in a car accident and 60% in a an accident involving a sports utility vehicle.
