Kansas City Police Officer involved in two-vehicle injury accident

A Kansas City Police officer was involved in a two-vehicle car accident on Thursday October 21, 2010i.  The accident happened around 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Indpendence and Hardesty in Kansas City, Missouri.  At the time of the accident, the officer was driving with lights and sirens.  Reports indicate the officer slowed to make sure he had clearance to proceed through the intersection and that traffic in all directions came to a stop.

When the officer entered the intersection, the patrol car was struck by a pick-up truck that was attempting to circumvent stalled traffic.  Two women in the pick-up truck suffered serious injuries and were taken to a local hospital.  There were also two children in the truck, though neither were injured.  The Kansas City Police Officer also walked away from the crash without injury.
