Kansas Governor Orders KDoT to Increase Safety on Kansas Highway 10

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback is pushing for officials at the Kansas Department of Transportation to increase safety measures along Kansas Highway 10, which runs from Lawrence, KS. into Lenexa, KS. The highway has become one of the more dangerous highways in the state and Gov. Brownback believes installing median cables will help to cut down on the number of serious injury and fatal auto crashes along the highway.

KDoT has investigated the issue before, coming to the conclusion that the highway didn't meet standards that would require median cables. A recent crossover crash that claimed the life of a 5 year-old child has commuters, as well as Governor Brownback, very concerned for motorist safety.

Brownback would like to see KDoT re-examine the possibility of installing these cables or in the least, adding rumble strips on the highway in Douglas County, as the Johnson County strip of K-10 already has them.
