Kansas Man Killed in Fatal Bus Accident in New York

A man from Manhattan, Kansas was among four people killed in a bus crash in New York around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday September 11, 2010.  The accident happened when the bus was coming off a highway exit and slammed into a low railroad bridge in Syracuse, New York.

The bus was enroute from Philadelphia to Toronto Canada.  According to people close to the scene, the driver had made the drive before but for some reason had left the normal route.  The bus was too tall for the bridge clearance and collided with it when it tried to pass under.

Twenty people were hospitalized with serious injury but have since been released.
