KC Concern Over Chicken Nugget Recall

Perdue Farms has issued a mass recall of tons and tons of their products. 

The product to be recalled is one of their top-sellers a a favorite of many busy moms and junk food loving kids: chcken nuggets.  These nuggets are considered to be potential threats to the health of both children and adults.  The nuggets themselves may contain foreign materials.  What is meant by foreign materials is plastic.  Yes, apparently there are tiny bits of plastic contained within an unknown number of Perdue Farms project. 

This news came after numerous complaints were filed by consumers who used the chicken nugget product.  Allegedly, multiple consumer sources had been filing complaints that they had found the same blue plastic substance scattered throughout the Perdue Farms product.  This prompted the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service to begin investigations. 

Upon investigating, the governmental service found that these reports were founded.  They were also able to inform the public about how to identify the product.  The dangerous products come in 16 ounce and 13 ounce amounts.  They are packaged in plastic bags that are labeled with the following words: "GREAT VALUE" and "Fully Cooked Chicken Nuggets."  The Perdue Farms labels is blue with white lettering that reads "Perdue," and a yellowish-orange line that underscores the one-word label.  You can also identify these bags by their establishment number code, which is P-33944.  And also, their case code, which is 89008 A0160.  This last method is probably the most accurate way to correctly determine whether or not you have an unsafe bag of chicken nuggets on your hands.  You can learn more about this product recall by visiting their website.

But now that the offical investigation has come to light, the work has just begun for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service and the Perdue Farms Company.  It is suspected that at least 91,872 pounds of chicken nuggets contain these foreign materials.  That is almost 46 tons of chicken nuggets!  Both parties are insisting that any consumers who have these products dispose of them at once and report their ownership of this product to either the USDA or the Perdue Farms Company.  This will enable the parties to determine how much of this defective product has already been consumed, and how much the parties should publicize in order to prevent other consumers from ingesting these potentially hazardous food products.  

The only good news to come out of this recall is that no instances of injury have been reported to either of the respective parties.  But if you believe that you have this product in your home, we urge you to discontinue use immediately.  If you wish to seek a full refund, you can either call the United States Department of Agriculture at 1-877-727-3447 or visit their website for more details.
