Lawrence Man was Driving Drunk when Son Fell From Truck

A 12 year-old boy is still in the hospital after being thrown from the back of a pick up truck while helping his family move on Saturday September 25, 2010.  To make matters worse, it was discovered the boy's father, who was driving the truck, was legally drunk at the time. 

The accident happened in Lawrence, Kansas as the boy, his brother and father were transporting a basketball goal to their new home.  According to reports, the truck hit a bump and the boy along with the basketball goal, were thrown from the back of the truck.  The boy was hospitalized with serious injuries and severe road rash.

Lawrence Police don't suspect the father was drinking at the time of the accident but that he still had alcohol in his system from the night before.  A breath test revealed his blood alcohol level to be nearly two and a half times the legal limit.
