Leavenworth Motorist Hospitalized after Head-On Collision on U.S. 24-40

A 23-year-old Leavenworth man was hospitalized after being involved in a multi-car accident that happened on U.S. Highway 24-40 on Saturday July 16, 2011.  Kansas Highway Patrol confirmed the auto injury accident, which happened about six miles southwest of Tonganoxie, KS. involved three vehicles..

The injury victim, identified as Kyle Lee Grape was traveling west on the highway when he lost control of his vehicle and hit another car head-on.  He was injured in the crash, but his injuries were not initially believed to be serious. A 12-year-old passenger in Grape's vehicle did not suffer any injuries.

The other driver involved in the three-vehicle crash, was taken to a nearby hospital, having suffered serious injuries in the head on collision. Reports indicate, the driver of the third vehicle, a pick-up truck was not injured in the Kansas City car crash.

KHP says everyone was wearing a seat belt.
