Man Abducted Following Car Wreck

A car crash was the unusual beginning of a crime that occurred in Kansas City, Missouri Thursday afternoon.  A retired marine, McWaylan Lewis, was leaving the Veteran's Administration, on his way to Grandview when his car was clipped in a minor accident near Brush Creek Boulevard and Prospect. 

Lewis reported that following the wreck, a large, heavyset man jumped into Lewis's vehicle, took his cell phone and demanded to be "paid" for the damages from the crash.  Lewis suggested they go to the Grandview bank where he was expecting a loan check.  The other vehicle in the crash followed Lewis and the heavyset man. 

Once in the bank, Lewis was able to slip the clerk a business card with a message to "call the police".  The clerk, who did not want to call the police with the man standing over Lewis, suggested they go to a certain bank to cash the loan check.  
Police were notified and three suspects were arrested.  Charges will be filed on Friday.  Lewis was not harmed during the incident and no weapons were used.

Although sometimes it seems like there is nothing you can do to prevent an accident, such as the accident above, often times there are things we can all do to make our roads a safer place for motorists to prevent accidents and/or minimize injuries, such as not texting while driving and making sure children are placed in proper restraint systems.
