Man Killed after Falling Out of Back of Pick-Up Truck in KCMO

A St. Louis man was killed when he fell out of the back of a pick-up truck in an tragic auto accident in Kansas City, Missouri last week. The fatal accident happened on 51st and Troost on June 13, 2011 in KCMO when a man who was riding on top of a mattress in the back of a pick up fell and suffered a severe and traumatic head injury.

The man was identified as Stephen West, a recent graduate of Rockhurst University. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he would eventually die from the extent of the injuries.

"We were barely moving along," the driver of the truck, Caleb Philliopi said about the accidnt. "I could see the mattress caught the wind and box spring fell off back on the road. And then the next thing you know Steve's laying there and we're going to the emergency room."
